This is where victimhood mentality leads us

Victimhood is the center of the new Left. Victimhood is currency. Victimhood is protection. And victimhood is all that many on the Left can see. Their worldview is dominated by who is a victim, and who is the victimizer.

Personal responsibility doesn’t exist. Only victimhood.

If you want to see where the victimhood mentality leads, look no further than Demi Lovato.

If you don’t know, Lovato is a former child star. She rose to fame on the Disney Channel, and became a popstar. She also became a drug addict. She nearly died from an overdose on heroin, fentanyl, and a cocktail of other drugs. Lovato has ‘struggled’ with her weight and body image.

Lovato has become an YouTube star for a documentary into her life where she talks about sex, drugs, her music, her ‘California sobriety,’ and all manner of other things. If the clips from the documentary are to be believed, nothing has ever been Lovato’s fault. She is a true victim. Someone else always did things to her. From her career to her drug use, someone else is always to blame.

Her victim-centric view took to new heights this week. She went on Instagram to complain about an LA frozen yogurt shop that offered ‘sugar free and guilt free’ options.

Buzzfeed had the write-up.

Over the weekend, Demi Lovato visited The Bigg Chill, an LA frozen yogurt shop. Apparently, the store had "sugar free cookies" and "diet foods" available. According to Just Jared, Demi called these out in her Instagram story. "Do better please. #DietCultureVultures," she wrote.

Lovato continued calling out marketing that "not only enables but praises disordered eating."

Over on Demi's story, she shared what appeared to be private messages between her and The Bigg Chill. She wrote that "the whole experience was triggering and awful." She also wrote, "Don't make excuses, just do better."

All of this because of sugar free fro-yo.

Lovato’s claim, that she suffered from the horrors of diet culture, are peak-victimhood. She can’t stand the sight of sugar free snacks, therefore no one can have any sugar free snacks. Got it?

The shop in question said it offered the sugar free snacks, as well as other options, for people who have various medical needs or dietary restrictions.

It would be easy to dismiss this woman as a mentally ill drug addict who’s opinion doesn’t matter. But chances are your kids or grandkids know who Demi Lovato is, and follow her on social media. What lesson are they learning?

They are learning the same lesson from Lovato as they are learning from BLM, from President Biden, from sports stars like LeBron James. They are learning that victimhood is all that matters. That ’their truth’ is paramount.

Demi Lovato’s latest temper tantrum is proof how omni-present the idea of constant victimhood has become.

There are a few people on social media pushing back, but no one of any real cultural cache is telling this young woman to grow-up. No one is explaining to the millions of young people who read Lovato’s stories that this is what drug addicts do, they make excuses and blame each other. No one is offering this clearly troubled young woman any help.

America was built on the idea of individual success and equal opportunity. Victimhood mentality preaches against that. These kind of stories instead say American is never fair, and won’t be fair until every Demi Lovato (and other victim) gets equal outcomes that make them feel good in the process.
