We need to let police officers do their jobs

We tell our kids not to call 911 as a joke or for anything other than an emergency.

Perhaps we should tell some adults the same thing.

2019's cultural push for safe space (safe from discomfort) has more and more adults looking for police officers to be nannies, mommies, or the arbiters of fair.

That's the wrong approach.

Police officers should not be called to handle middle school gym class games. They should not be called for every child or dog who's been left in a car. And police should never be called over chicken nuggets.

We have a terrible habit in 2019 of over-criminalizing things.

Except for when we don't.

The job of a police officer is to protect and serve. It's not to settle your arguments, or make you feel less uncomfortable.

We need to remember that.
