The problem with canonizing John McCain

Two things can be true at the same time.

John McCain is a war hero, and it is beneath the President of the United States to say differently.

But John McCain is being held out as a hero today because he opposed Donald Trump.

For some reason, President Trump is once again talking about his dislike of John McCain.

As expected, a lot of journalists are not happy. Really not happy. Like, really.

But so much of the ire is based on the media's dislike for the president, and the adoration of anyone who opposes him.

Don't forget MSNBC dragged McCain as sleazy during his 2008 run for the White House. Now the network is lionizing him.

It would be one thing if our friends in the media were celebrating McCain for his service. But they are simply embracing him now because McCain rejected President Trump before his death.
